What is Selank?
Selank 10mg comes from a Moscow research group. It was built by the same school of researchers as Semax.
The chain runs Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, seven amino acids in all. Its first four repeat tuftsin, a tiny peptide the body makes and the immune system uses. The last three were added by its designers.
Rats and lab dishes account for most of the work. A handful of modest human studies stand beside them. Russian groups wrote almost all of it, and some of the papers were never published in English.
What the 4 PubMed papers cited for Selank looked at, 2008 to 2020
The largest human study cited here is a Russian study from 2008. Sixty-two people with anxiety took either Selank or an older anxiety medicine, and their anxiety scores were tracked in both groups.
Two lab papers look at how it might work. A 2016 rat study measured the activity of dozens of genes connected with GABA, the main calming messenger of the brain. Two years later, a lab study measured how firmly GABA held on to the membranes of brain cells when Selank was present.
Selank was also one of three arms in a 2020 scan study of 52 adults, alongside Semax and a placebo, which tracked how brain regions work together.
The human studies are small and come from one research tradition. None of the work cited here tests Selank in a large trial run outside Russia.
