What is Retatrutide?
Retatrutide 20mg is a lab-made peptide that engages three hormone receptors together: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon.
Retatrutide remains under investigation in clinical trials and is not an approved medicine in any country.
Between them, the three hormones take part in managing blood sugar, appetite and the body's use of energy, and retatrutide engages the receptors for all three.
Testing continues in clinical trials. Phase 2 results are in print, and a 2026 phase 3 trial in adults with type 2 diabetes has since appeared.
What the 4 PubMed papers cited for Retatrutide looked at, 2023 to 2026
A 2023 phase 2 trial took in 338 adults, some with obesity and some with overweight plus a condition linked to weight, and tracked their weight for 48 weeks against a placebo group.
Another phase 2 trial from 2023 followed 281 adults with type 2 diabetes for 36 weeks, measuring blood sugar and weight, and compared retatrutide both with placebo and with an older medicine of the same family.
A 2024 paper reported a substudy of the 2023 obesity trial: 98 of its adults who also had fatty liver, with the change in liver fat measured against placebo. In 2026, The Lancet published a 40-week phase 3 trial, randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled, at 48 sites in the USA, Mexico and India. It enrolled 537 adults with type 2 diabetes not controlled by diet and exercise alone, and measured the change in HbA1c, a long-term blood sugar marker, as its main outcome, with body weight and side effects beside it.
This note says what each trial measured and leaves the results to the papers themselves, linked below: the trials tested a compound still under study, in set groups of adults, not a research-grade vial like this one.

Reading the Retatrutide record
Retatrutide is still in clinical trials, so its record is growing. The phase 2 trials measured weight, blood sugar and liver fat. A phase 3 trial in adults with type 2 diabetes appeared in 2026.
Because it is not approved anywhere, there is no medicine to compare this vial with. The trials describe a compound under test, in specific groups of adults, over fixed periods.
Glucagon, the third target, is what sets retatrutide apart from Tirzepatide 20mg, which acts on GIP and GLP-1 only.
These figures describe the trials, not their results. They say who took part, how many and, where the paper gives it, for how long.
The papers on this page, side by side:
- 2023, phase 2: 338 adults with obesity, or with overweight plus a weight-related condition; weight over 48 weeks, against placebo.
- 2023, phase 2: 281 adults with type 2 diabetes; blood sugar and weight over 36 weeks, against placebo and an older medicine of the same family.
- 2024, a substudy of the 2023 obesity trial: 98 of its adults who had fatty liver; the change in liver fat, against placebo.
- 2026, phase 3, in The Lancet: 537 adults with type 2 diabetes not controlled by diet and exercise; HbA1c, body weight and side effects over 40 weeks, against placebo.
Questions about Retatrutide
Is retatrutide an approved medicine?
No. It is still under investigation in clinical trials and has no approval anywhere.
How is retatrutide different from tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide engages two hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, and retatrutide adds a third, glucagon. The Tirzepatide 20mg entry sets out its record.
How do I know if retatrutide is in stock?
Ask on WhatsApp when you order; stock for this vial is confirmed there. One vial is 2,600,000 VND ($102 USD); buying 3, 5 or 10 at once lowers the price of each.
