In 2014, 50 adults with HIV were followed for six months against placebo, with belly fat and liver fat as the measures.
A 2019 trial enrolled 61 adults who had HIV as well as fatty liver, and measured their liver fat over a year against placebo.
All three trials summarised here were randomised and placebo-controlled, and all three were limited to adults with HIV, which makes them narrow.

The trial record for tesamorelin is careful but narrow. Three randomised, placebo-controlled trials are summarised here, each measuring belly fat or liver fat against placebo.
The narrowness is real too. Every person in those trials had HIV with fat building up around the belly. The trials say nothing about people without HIV, and this page does not stretch them.
